Inevitably, the content uploaded on the ‘Warta Kabar Baik’ channel immediately sparked controversy.

One of the civil organizations who protested was GP Ansor Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Kencong. The youth organization is recorded as having reported this content to the Jember Police since May 4, 2025.

The police immediately hunted Donald down and managed to secure him and examine him intensively.

“We have secured and checked the person concerned. With two sufficient pieces of evidence, we have also increased his status to suspect,” said Jember Police Chief AKBP Bobby Adimas Candra Putra at a press conference held at the Jember Police Headquarters, Monday, May 19, 2025.

According to Bobby, the suspect’s motive for making a video calling the Prophet Muhammad a fictitious figure was economic.

“After being examined, the perpetrator’s motive for doing this was to look for viewers (viewers) and adsense (advertising shows managed by Google),” said the officer who once served in the National Police Headquarters Propam Division.

Apart from economic motives, it is suspected that the suspect committed this act based on the motive of belief.

In the post, the suspect said that many people strongly believe that the Prophet Muhammad was a fictional character. He said the Prophet Muhammad never existed and was an imaginary figure who never existed.
